Brooks Hill Winery, the little winery up the hill, is a dream come true for Mike and Karen Hatzell. The winery has brought them the opportunity to pursue activities that they have long enjoyed. It is their hope that you will come and visit them at Brooks Hill Winery, the little winery up the hill, meet their beautiful labradoodle, Lili, enjoy some Brooks Hill wine, walk in the woods, sit on the patio, under the pavilion or in front of the fireplace and just uncork and unwine!

Mike's initial love of the land and farming developed in his youth when he would spend summers with his aunt and uncle, Barbara and Lewis Bandy, on their farm in
When Mike and Karen married in 1996, he expressed to her his dream to someday own and operate a vineyard and winery. Over the years Mike has casually looked for the right property. He was drawn to Brooks Hill where the Hatzell family roots run deep. After one look at the property, Mike could envision the vineyard and winery, it took Karen quite a bit longer to see it! In August 2006, Mike and Karen purchased the property where Brooks Hill Winery sits.

Delicious Autumn . . .
at the little winery up the hill
Autumn is a time of harvest and of gathering together! The crisp air, the spectacular colors and the anticipation of the holidays are all signs that fall has arrived at BHW. The hiking path is in great shape and awaiting your arrival.
The vineyard is winding down for its winter nap but is still beautiful. New wines are being prepared for bottling. Butch has created some wonderful ones for release this fall. There is “Roe Hill Red” a wonderful dry red, a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc wines; Riesling a semi-dry German style wine that customers have asked for in the past; and Vidal a semi-dry French hybrid wine. Our Strawberry wine and Sweet Martyne – named for Karen’s mother - will be bottled in time for the holidays. All of our new wines are delicious and you will easily find one that will dazzle your taste buds.
Wine School has begun again. Check out the web page for more details. It is a fun hobby to develop and Butch is an excellent teacher!
As always, we invite you to come to the little winery up the hill bring your family and friends, and enjoy Brooks Hill wine and the beautiful colors and sounds of Autumn! We always enjoy having your company!
